Our Science: The Gut–Vagina Axis

Why an oral vaginal probiotic starts in your gut, and how we make sure what's on the label is in the capsule.

Your vaginal flora starts in your gut

A healthy vaginal microbiome is dominated by Lactobacillus: the bacteria that keep vaginal pH in its naturally acidic range and crowd out less friendly microbes. Where do those lactobacilli come from? Research points to the gut. The rectum and vagina are neighbors, and the bacteria that live in your gut regularly make the short trip over. Scientists call this the gut–vagina axis.

That's why Floressa is a probiotic for vaginal health that you swallow, not an insert. By supporting your gut flora with specific Lactobacillus strains, you support the supply line that feeds your vaginal flora.*

Why oral, not a suppository

  • It's how your body already does it. Oral Lactobacillus strains have been shown in clinical studies to reach and colonize the vaginal tract after ingestion.
  • No mess, no timing. One capsule a day with water. Nothing to insert, nothing to plan around.
  • It's a dietary supplement. Vaginal inserts aren't. Oral probiotics are regulated as supplements and can be made in GMP-certified facilities with full lot testing.

What's in Floressa

Floressa uses named, clinically studied Lactobacillus strains chosen for one job: supporting a balanced vaginal flora and healthy pH.*

  • [Strain 1, e.g. Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1]: [one-line description]
  • [Strain 2, e.g. Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14]: [one-line description]
  • [X] billion CFU, guaranteed through the expiration date, not just at the time of manufacture.

No fillers you don't need. Vegan capsule. Free from gluten, dairy and soy. [Confirm with final formula.]

Made by a microbiologist

Floressa was founded by a microbiologist with a master's degree in Microbiology and Cell Science and a background in pharmaceutical quality control. In pharma, every lot is tested before it ships. We hold our women's probiotic to the same standard.

How we test

Every lot of Floressa is independently tested for:

  • Strain identity: the strains on the label are the strains in the capsule.
  • Live CFU count: potency verified at release and through shelf life.
  • Microbial purity: screened for contaminants like E. coli, Salmonella and yeast/mold.
  • Heavy metals: lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury.

Certificates of analysis are available on request.

What Floressa is not

Floressa is a daily supplement to support vaginal health. It is not a treatment for any condition. If you have symptoms that concern you, see your doctor.
